Michelin MX Nationals – Round 3 – Duns, Scotland 28/29 May

Conditions – Mixture of hard packed clay and softer mixed in wood chip areas.

An extremely long trip North for the ‘Southerners’ was rewarded with an amazing moto-cross venue, expertly prepared by top Scottish mx rider Bryan Mc Kenzie and his track team ready for some great racing in all classes. The weather was also very friendly for the weekend, making the long trip very enjoyable.

The softer areas of the track got very rutted and very rough which gave all the riders plenty to think about and deal with. Mixed in with some harder packed areas with some well made and spectacular jumps, it was a joy to watch some great battles all weekend long.

Ollie got stuck in, as always, and posted 13-10-11-12 finishes with some good close racing. This gave Ollie 12th overall on the day and he now sits in joint 12th in the Championship. Good progress has been made and he is currently beating initial targets and setting his sights on the top 10.

Charlie raced well and spent the first half of the races battling inside the top 8 at a great pace but, sensibly, just backed off a little towards the end while he regroups his confidence at full speed after a pretty heavy practice crash earlier in the week. He is still hitting his targets with 11-10-11-9 finishes and is looking forward to giving it 100% again very soon. This gave him 11th overall in the MXY2 class and again was 2nd on the podium for the 125cc finishers.
