Mx Nationals – Round 6 (Final Round) – Hawkstone Park 3rd & 4th September 2016
Conditions – deep sand, wet Saturday, dry Sunday.
One of the country’s most iconic mx tracks, situated in Shropshire, hosted the final round of 2016′s Mx Nationals series. It was to be a very challenging event for all the riders with the deep sandy venue getting rain for most of the day on Saturday, making the track even more gnarly than usual.
The Beamish Boys dug deep to get the results they needed for their Championship positions, Ollie with a creditable 10,9 scorecard on the Saturday and Charlie going 9,13.
Though the weather was very nice on the Sunday, the damage had been done as such and the track rode extremely deep and rutted. Ollie was plagued with some unlucky slip offs which saw him battling hard from the back of the pack for 17th and 14th, giving him 11th overall and a creditable 12th in the final Championship, inside his top 15 target for the season.
Charlie also found the conditions hard and had some extra pressure of obtaining enough points to win the 125cc series. He worked hard and posted 15th,16th on Sunday for 12th overall on the weekend. But most importantly his consistency paid off, rewarding him with a well earned 7th in the MXY2 Championship and his first National title of Mx Nationals MXY2 125cc CHAMPION….
Great family times shared…. Champion Charlie….
